Dressing Your Dog for a Wedding: Bow Ties, Ring Bearers and Tips
More couples are walking the dog down the aisle. A bow tie is the easiest way to dress them for it: it matches the wedding party and doesn't fight your dog the way a full outfit can.
Choosing the bow tie
- Match the palette, not the exact fabric. A stripe or print with one of the wedding colors looks intentional in photos.
- Size by your dog, not the groomsmen: the size guide runs from 3" for toy dogs to 6" for large dogs.
- Order a few weeks early so there's time for a practice run. For a specific color, message me before ordering.
Practice before the day
- Have your dog wear the bow tie for short sessions in the weeks before.
- Practice the walk on a leash with a treat waiting at the end.
- Ask someone your dog knows well to be their handler for the day.
On the day
- A long walk beforehand makes for a calmer ceremony.
- Don't attach real rings to your dog; carry them, and let the dog carry the look.
- Plan a quiet spot, water and an early ride home, since receptions are long for dogs.
- Check the venue allows dogs, and get the photos with your dog done early.
