How to Put a Bow Tie on a Dog (in 10 Seconds)

A Muddy Paw bow tie doesn't tie at all. It has a velcro strap sewn on the back that wraps around the collar your dog already wears, so there's no knot to learn and nothing extra around their neck.
Step by step
- Take the collar off first if your dog is wiggly. It's easier to attach on a table than on a moving dog.
- Open the velcro strap on the back of the bow tie.
- Wrap the strap around the collar, with the bow facing out, and press the velcro closed.
- Slide it to the front so it sits under the chin, opposite the buckle. If the ID tag hangs from the front ring, the bow can sit just to one side of it.
- Put the collar back on and check that two fingers still fit underneath.
Will it fit my collar?
The strap fits any collar 1" wide or less, which covers most everyday collars and every collar in this shop. For a wider collar, message me before ordering and I'll make the strap longer.
Getting a dog used to it
- Let them sniff it first, then attach it and hand over a treat straight away.
- Start with a few minutes indoors, then a short walk. Most dogs forget it's there once they're moving.
- If your dog paws at it, take it off and try again later with a better treat. Don't leave it on an unsupervised dog who chews.
